The program provided technical assistance in the sphere of social and economic development in the Volga Federal District (VFD) through support for partnerships in that region. Russia's Volga Federal District is one of the nation's biggest and most productive industrial regions. The New Opportunities Project focused on the development of an extensive social rehabilitation program to prevent juvenile delinquency among at-risk youth in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. The partners have developed training courses and an advisory system for social workers and other professionals who work with at-risk youth. The project has developed several brochures to assist Russian professionals in the prevention of child maltreatment and juvenile delinquency. |
