New Perspectives on Youth Sexual Behavior

The Maryland Association of Resources for Families and Youth (MARFY) is a private, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. It is an association of child and family serving agencies throughout Maryland joined by a common commitment to children, youth and families.  We are working with other provider agencies and the Maryland State Department of Juvenile Services to plan a conference for public and private agencies and their employees who work with youth who have offended sexually. We are pleased to partner with other agencies in a pro-active endeavor to enhance the services and programming for this often difficult-to-serve population.  This conference, New Perspectives on Youth Sexual Behavior, will explore various topics surrounding sexual offenders, victims and their families and will be held on May 5, 2006 in Maryland at the Conference Center at Maritime Institute. The complete workshop description and registration form is attached. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Adrianne Humes at 410-974-4901 extension 2 or via email at ahumes@marfy.org.

Stopping Sexual Abuse at the Source

“Stopping Sexual Abuse at the Source” will bring together diverse, multidisciplinary professionals, who deal with sexually abusive youth in a variety of roles and settings, to explore the implications of research and clinical experience specifically relevant to preventing perpetration by juveniles. Decreasing the risks of sexual deviance and abusive dynamics in our communities, by increasing opportunities for healthy development and relationships, is likely to achieve results far beyond the initial goals of containment and risk management as the means of preventing sexual abuse.
