Interdisciplenary Training Program in Child Abuse and Neglect

The Interdisciplinary Training Program in Child Abuse and Neglect is designed to provide advanced academic training in child abuse and neglect. Students can enroll in credit hours based on their program's requirements. Credit hours will be arranged through the student’s major department or through the Graduate College of OUHSC. The academic year for the ITP begins in August and ends in April of each year. The two components of the academic program are described below. |

Program Goals |

The educational goals of the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Child Abuse and Neglect are to develop leaders in the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect:
|
| |
- Who are rigorously trained and understand the value of the prevention of child maltreatment;
- Who are committed learners in all aspects; and
- Who will, through professional advocacy, education, policy development, research, and service, contribute substantially to the knowledge base for the prevention of child maltreatment at the state, national, and international levels.

ITP Didactic Component |
 |

| |
- Weekly seminars (90 clock hours)
- Fall conference (1-3 days)
- Major project, such as a case study, research project, or program evaluation.
- Mock trial at the Oklahoma County Juvenile Court
|
 |
ITP Clinical Component |
 |
|
| |
- Discipline-specific clinical practicum (hours vary by discipline)
- Cross-discipline practicum experience (40 hours), such as observing cases in juvenile and criminal court, attending the Child Protection Committee at Children’s Hospital, or observing a caseworker at the Department of Human Services.
