16th Annual Oklahoma Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect
and Healthy Families 2008 Call for Papers


 

The Center on Child Abuse and Neglect is soliciting abstracts for both program evaluation and research presentations at the 16th Oklahoma Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect and Healthy Families.  This annual conference is Oklahoma’s major forum for child abuse professionals to report new research findings and obtain training concerning legal, medical, mental health, investigative, preventive and protective services work with abused and neglected children, their families, and perpetrators of abuse.  Abstracts are encouraged on all aspects of child maltreatment, including cultural diversity.

Type of Presentations

 

There will be two types of presentations:

PAPER PRESENTATION (Research only): Oral presentation of results from an original research study (20-30 minutes).

POSTER PRESENTATION (Research or Practice): Poster display of research, practice, or program innovations providing the opportunity for discussion with conference participants.

All research presentations should be designed for professionals in the field of child maltreatment, including child abuse prevention, youth violence, and domestic abuse.  They should be based on the latest data available in scientific research, legal findings, and practice knowledge.  This may include original empirical studies, qualitative studies, legal and policy research, or practice-based research.  Abstracts should include appropriate descriptions of the research question, methods, and results.  For further information, contact Brenda Gentry by e-mail at brenda-gentry@ouhsc.edu  or by phone at (405) 271-8858.



Submission Requirements

 

Submissions by e-mail are preferred.  E-mailed submissions should include all information on the Abstract submission form plus a current vitae and brief biographical sketch (25 words) for each presenter (up to 3 presenters). e-mail file attachments should be in MS-Word or pdf format. 

e-mail submissions must be received by 5 p.m. (CST) on May 19, 2008

Submissions by mail should include all information on the Abstract submission form, plus original and two copies of the abstract, current vitae, and biographical sketch (25 words) for each presenter (up to 3).  Please provide complete and clear contact information for lead and co-presenters.   

Mail submissions must be postmarked by May 19, 2008
